The Summer Scholars Vista Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of traditionally under-represented students and increasing access to higher education for students from low-income families. Limited scholarship funding is available to eligible applicants applying for residential status in the Summer Scholars Three-Week, Credit Program.*
The scholarship award provides need-based financial support for high school sophomores and juniors who have distinguished themselves in and out of the classroom. In this precollege program, students have the opportunity to explore their academic interests and develop time management and interpersonal skills critical to their success in college.
The Vista scholarship focuses on broadening the number of traditionally underrepresented populations, and is intended for students who demonstrate academic merit and "exceptional financial need." To participate in the Summer Scholars Vista Scholarship selection process, applicants must: *The Vista Scholarship is available for students in the Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Additionally, scholarships cannot be combined with any other discount or tuition grant. If a student is eligible for multiple forms of financial assistance, then the student will be considered for only one singular form of financial assistance based on eligibility.
Program hosted on campus – residential status is required to receive the award. Please note
the scholarship does not apply to the UM Academies Two-Week, Non-Credit Program.
Scholarships cannot be combined with any other discount or tuition grant. If a student is eligible
for multiple forms of financial assistance, then the student will be considered for only one
singular form of financial assistance based on eligibility.
Applicants who receive at least one of the following benefits will be eligible to request the Application Fee Reduction Code specifically for Vista Scholarship applicants, which will reduce the Pre-College Application Fee from $75 to $25. Please note the Application Fee Reduction Code must be entered before submitting the Pre-College application fee payment, as refunds are not available for application fees once the application has been submitted. Requests for an Application Fee Reduction Code will be processed within two business days of submitting the request and will be sent via email once your eligibility has been determined. The deadline to request the Application Fee Reduction Code is February 27, 3:00 p.m. EST.
Include your essay with your Vista Scholarship Application, responding to the following writing prompt: How has your family background affected the way you see the world? (up to 300 words) Optional for Summer 2023, upload your PSAT, SAT or ACT score report in your Pre-College Student Status Portal. Unofficial score reports are accepted at time of application. Please note that an official score report could be requested for scholarship awards.
The CSS Profile must be completed by you and your parent or guardian. If your custodial parent is remarried, the information should include his/her spouse. Please note, there is a $25 nonrefundable application fee for the CSS Profile. If you have questions about the CSS Profile and IDOC, please contact College Board.
In addition to submitting the University of Miami Pre-college Application for the Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Program, you must complete both the Vista Scholarship application and CSS Profile by March 1.
